About 5 days out of the week, our family hops in the car to make the hour round-trip drive to the post office where Ten Thousand Homes has its p.o. box. Each trip is filled with prayers and anticipation as we continue believing for God's full provision for our property in South Africa. The drive is a time to reflect on the incredible ways we have seen God provide up to this point and to express our gratitude to Him.
Some days we show up and the p.o. box is full of checks. It's easy to have a thankful heart on those days. Other days, the box is empty or there isn't as much money in it as we had hoped. Those are the days where the attitude in our heart is really tested. God is just as worthy of our praise and thanksgiving on those days when it is harder to see His hand of provision at work.
This process of fundraising for the Ten Thousand Homes property has been about so much more than the money, at least for me. It has been a walk of faith that has drawn me closer into the arms of Jesus with each step. It is a time of learning more about God's character and His promises. It's a time of learning that none of this is about me or about any one person being able to make something happen.
God, today I declare my trust in YOU! I look to You as the Provider for Ten Thousand Homes. I pray that no amount of money will get in the way of the plans you have for Ten Thousand Homes to bring HOPE and HOMES to the orphaned and vulnerable children that we have the privilege of serving in Africa.
